Sheina Dong
Sheina came to NZ when she was 17 years old, and completed her tertiary education at The University of Auckland, finishing with a BCom in Accounting and a Masters Degree in commercial Law. She then worked as a Corporate Accountant for 8 years, continuing her studies and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2014. In 2015 Sheina began a new adventure – starting up her own business, designing and installing modern kitchens in high spec homes.
Sheina has two sons – one in Year 7 and another in Year 10.
Sheina has served on the Board for the past six years, working alongside fellow board members, school leadership, and our wider community, to support strong governance, strategic direction, and responsible decision-making for Pinehurst.
Apart from her role on the Board, her contributions include:
- Initiating a petition and working closely with local MP Erica Stanford regarding the use of Albany Oaks Motel as emergency housing, successfully stopping it in 2025 to enhance the safety of the school environment;
- She manages two WeChat parent groups, connecting more than 500 Chinese parents with school information and updates. She regularly shares school notices. At the beginning of each term, she also posts map of the campus with sign for the safety of parking/drop off area;
- In 2022, when the Year 7 Maths Extension programme was cancelled, she organised a parent survey with more than 90 responses, ensuring parents’ views were collected and communicated to the school;
- She served as Social Coordinator from Year 1 to Year 6, supporting the work of the Marketing Manager;
- She volunteered as a parent helper for the school camp, and the Primary School Athletics Day;
- She volunteered as an official for the Inter-House Swimming Days, from Year 4-5, Year 7-8, and Year 9-13. Those are three separate swimming events;
- She organized Year 6 Graduation Party in Year 2025; and
- From time to time, she also supports community activities on-site and helping parents, especially those with language barriers, feel confident in engaging with the school.
These may seem like small actions individually, but together they build trust, connection, and a stronger community.
Outside her school activities, Sheina serves on the Board of the Auckland Swimming Association, and is the Chairperson of the Coast Swim Club.
Sheina is committed to continuing to support Pinehurst by listening to parents’ voices, helping families connect, and contributing to a safe and thriving environment for our children.
Thank you for your support!
